SOLO RUNNER REMINDERS

GREETINGS FALL 50 SOLO RUNNERS!

Race day is approaching quickly! Hopefully your training is going well and your excitement is growing. We have a few reminders and updates in this email so please read to the end so you know what to expect on race weekend.

ITEM #1 - RACE SHUTTLE

If you signed up for a shuttle to the Start line when you registered, you are all set. If your race plans have changed or you forgot to sign up, don't worry! We have plenty of room on the bus and you can sign up when you arrive at Packet Pickup on Friday, October 25, 2024. There is also a link to purchase shuttle rides on the Solo page of the event website.

ITEM #2 - HEADLAMPS

You may drop your headlamp / flashlight at AS1 (mile 5.5) into the drop bag (gear) bin. Please make sure to label it with your name or bib number. You will be able to pick them up after the race under the Solo Finisher tent.

ITEM #3 - DROP BAGS

Please bring your drop bag (aka gear bag) to either packet pickup at Stone Harbor Resort on Friday (2 pm - 8 pm) or to the start line in Gills Rock on Saturday morning between 5:30 am and 6:30 am. There are 10 drop locations which include all nine rest stations and the finish line. We recommend that you be strategic with how many locations you want your drop bag, especially if you plan to be pushing the cutoffs. Choose 3 or 4 well placed stops. Our Aid Stations (Exchange Zones) have plenty of food and fluids. NOTE: If you check drop bags for a specific station, you should plan to stop by that station and transfer the bag off of the table and into the gear bin to ensure that it arrives to the finish area in a timely fashion. If you do not stop at the station and move the bag into the bin, the bag will not be picked up and brought to the finish area until the last participant has passed through the station.

ITEM #4 - CUTOFFS

There is a soft cutoff at the Halfway point at mile 24. You should plan to be through exchange point 5 by 1:15 pm. The hard cutoff at exchange point 9 (Mile 45.3) is 5:15 pm. There is a sag vehicle that will give you a ride to the finish line if you miss this cutoff.

ITEM #5 - FINISH LINE SWAG!

All solo runners who cross the finish line before 6:30 pm will receive this super warm winter beanie! Yup...we love it too!

ITEM #6 - SOLO FINISHER TENT

Again this year, the Solo Finisher Tent will be adjacent to the finish line. You will be able to warm up under the heated tent, enjoy some hot soup and meet up with your family and friends! You will find your drop bags and headlamps here and we will have a changing area inside the tent. So plan ahead to change into warm clothes. Fall50 is often very cold in the park as the sun sets.

ITEM #5 - MASSAGE

Last but not least....For the fourth year, we will have 2 massage therapists available to gently work out any kinks from your hard efforts. If you have any other questions, you will find most of the answers on our main page.

Happy running,

Ann Scholl
