2020 Fall 50 Canceled

We are heartbroken to announce that the October 24, 2020 Door County Fall 50 is canceled. Despite our best efforts to make our event “Covid safe,” the recent surge in Covid cases in northeast Wisconsin prevents us from proceeding. The Door County Health Director, our medical partners at Door County Medical Center, and local government officials have urged us to cancel the event. Disregarding these appeals could result in our permits being revoked at the last minute, a scenario we must avoid.

As promised in the Cancellation Guarantee we offered in May (click here), we will REFUND the majority of each runner’s registration fees–all but $30–to whoever made the payment (team captain, team member, or individual)*. For example, on a team of five, we will refund $500 ($100 each) to whichever member(s) paid in the form of a check sent by mail in the next two weeks. Per the Cancellation Guarantee, we are retaining $30 per person to cover the production and mailing costs of the hooded sweatshirts and medals, which we already have on hand. To streamline the mailing process, all of the SWEATSHIRTS AND PARTICIPANT MEDALS for the teams will be mailed to the team captains.

Please know that we did everything within our power to avoid this cancellation scenario. We moved the start line, moved the finish line, rerouted the course, transformed the after-party, and implemented a lengthy list of new safety protocols, all in an effort to deliver another edition of this year’s event to you. The re-escalation of the pandemic locally thwarted these efforts.

We appreciate your commitment to the Fall 50 and we will honor that commitment. On April 1, 2021, all of this year’s team captains will receive a unique link enabling them to register a team during the first week of April, before open registration begins on April 8th. We hope to see all of you at the starting line for the 15th Annual Fall 50 on October 23, 2021. Until then, stay safe and keep running.

*NOTE: The refunds, hoodie & medals mailings and 2021 early registration opportunity applies to all solo runners, currently active teams, and teams that already chose to defer. In other words, this offer overrides the earlier deferral option that some teams chose.
